“Joined a club that has the potential of winning the UCL”

Chelsea legend John Terry has taken a cheeky dig at Arsenal after his former side signed Morgan Rogers. He claimed that the Englishman chose Stamford Bridge because he wants to win the UEFA Champions League.

Speaking on Piers Morgan’s Sports Uncensored, Terry stated that Chelsea have a better chance of winning the UEFA Champions League than Arsenal. He admitted that the fee is inflated, but does not think that will affect the Englishman and said:

“The numbers are inflated, that’s not the players issue for me. He’s obviously joined a club that has the potential of winning the Champions League and has a history of winning the Champions League, hence he’s gone for us over the red side of London, Piers.”

Terry added that Rogers is a good addition for the Blues as they needed someone in the starting XI. He stated that the signing from Aston Villa is better than Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho and said:

“To be honest, if you’re him, you’d have probably gone Arsenal so the numbers must have been pretty big. But I’m excited to have him, I think he’s a good player. I think he’s going to give us better than what we’ve got at the moment, I think he’s a good addition to the squad and I’m actually excited to see him.” (via Metro)

Morgan Rogers names why he picked Chelsea over Arsenal

Arsenal were in talks with Aston Villa and Morgan Rogers this summer, but failed to agree a deal. The Englishman spoke about his decision to make the switch to Stamford Bridge and said:

“I’m so excited. For me, Chelsea are the biggest club in London and a club I’ve always admired since I was a kid. I’m really excited about the project with the new manager, the players we’ve got and where the club is heading. That’s why I’m here and I can’t wait to get started.”

“The size of the club, the stature, the progression and the way that the club wants to move forward. It’s something I want to be a part of. It was perfect for me. I have had a few conversations with (Alonso). It’s important for me to understand what the manager is like, how he is and how he wants to operate, and it very much fits with the way I see the game, the way that I want to play and the way that I want to be me, be free and express myself. Him being a part of that was a massive (element) of the decision for me to be here.”

Chelsea have now agreed a deal to loan Alejandro Garnacho to Aston Villa.
