£80M Rated Chelsea Target Is ‘Keen’ On Securing Move To Stamford Bridge

Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has signalled his interest in joining Chelsea, according to reports.

The Standard claim that the 22-year-old is “keen on a move” to Stamford Bridge, just days after the Blues had a £64m bid rejected for the player.

Scott has encouraged teams to make an approach for him after rejecting an offer to extend his contract at Bournemouth.

The midfielder has less than two years left on his current deal, and it looks like he is open to leaving the Vitality Stadium for a new challenge.

Does Scott have an asking price?

The official stance from Bournemouth is that the player isn’t for sale, and the decision to turn down Chelsea’s opening offer suggests they are very reluctant to part ways with him.

It is believed the Cherries still hope to persuade Scott into staying, using a similar ploy that worked with Antoine Semenyo last summer.

The winger agreed to sign a contract extension on the proviso that a release clause was included. He ended up staying for six more months before joining Manchester City in January.

At the moment, though, Scott doesn’t seem open to such an arrangement, and sources suggest that a bid of around £80m may be enough to secure his services.

Chelsea do have competition from other Premier League teams

Arsenal made a formal enquiry for Scott several weeks ago, but the Gunners are currently prioritising a move for Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes.

Manchester United are also said to be interested in the midfielder, but the Red Devils are unlikely to match Bournemouth’s valuation, having baulked at paying £85m for West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes earlier in the summer.

At the moment, Xabi Alonso’s side appear to be favourites, and the news that Scott is keen on the transfer will come as a welcome boost.
