Archie Brown: Man United told Fenerbahce full-back’s asking price – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have learned Fenerbahce’s asking price for Archie Brown as the Red Devils battle a Premier League rival for the 24-year-old full-back, according to the latest report from Türkiye.
Bolstering the backline
INEOS are intent on signing a new left-back this summer despite Luke Shaw starting every Premier League match last year. The return of Champions League football, as well as the hope for deeper runs in the cup competitions, will significantly increase the number of games Michael Carrick’s squad will play next season.
Having faced a torrid run of injuries since signing from Southampton in 2013, Shaw – the longest-serving player at Old Trafford – will not be able to cope with the prospect of two, or even three, matches a week.
Patrick Dorgu‘s reinvention as a winger under Carrick looks set to continue as well, given the 21-year-old Denmark international started out wide in the 1-0 defeat to Wrexham last weekend. As such, a competitor – and potential long-term successor – for Shaw is considered essential.
Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall is understood to be the primary target, but the Magpies have no interest in selling him, let alone to a direct rival. This has led the club’s hierarchy to consider alternative options, such as Brown.
The 24-year-old Englishman shone for Fenerbahce last season, returning five goals and seven assists across 38 appearances. This attacking threat, with Brown possessing exceptional pace, will be a perfect complement to the more defensive Shaw.

Fenerbahce name their price
Turkish outlet Sabah confirms Manchester United have been closely monitoring the former Derby County defender, who was born in Birmingham and has played for the England under-20 side.
Standing 6’3″, Brown is a physical monster, given how dynamic he remains for a player that size. There would be no concerns about how he would adapt to the cut and thrust of Premier League football, despite not making a senior appearance in England.
Interestingly, INEOS have already signed Brown for another club in their esoteric sporting empire, Swiss side Lausanne-Sport, which Sir Jim Ratcliffe bought in 2017.
Sabah claims Fenerbahce do not want to lose their wing wizard as the club hopes to seal Champions League qualification with a win over Górnik Zabrze next week. However, the Yellow Canaries would reluctantly sanction a sale if a £17 million offer was tabled, given Brown is said to be “very keen” to return to England.
The report also mentions Chelsea are interested in Brown, setting up a potential bidding war between the two Premier League rivals. The Blues are prioritising a new left wing-back to slot in for Xabi Alonso after the departure of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid last month. Both United and Chelsea are also competing for Hall.
Final Thoughts
A £17 million outlay for a physically imposing full-back with pace and power in abundance, who has long been on the radar of Manchester United’s hierarchy, could prove an astute piece of business, even if Brown is yet to test himself in a top five European league. Whether the price would stay as cheap as this if Chelsea make a move remains to be seen, however.
