Glen Johnson has urged Chelsea to sign Manchester United target Manu Kone. He believes that the France midfielder is the ideal replacement for Enzo Fernandez this summer.

Speaking to Metro, Johnson said that Kone is a top midfielder and can be the best partner for Moises Caicedo. He added that the France star has the attributes to be a success in the Premier League and said:

“He has been excellent for France. A top midfielder, strong, physical, can use the ball well, pick a pass well, he is a top player, and to get into the French midfield you must be a good player. If Enzo leaves, he can be the perfect replacement for sure. His attributes seem to be suited to the Premier League, so I don’t think he will have any issues getting used to the game at all.”

Enzo Fernandez has been linked with an exit this summer, with Real Madrid and Manchester City keeping tabs on him. PSG are also said to be interested in signing the Argentina star after his FIFA World Cup display.

Johnson believes that there are likely to be more exits from Chelsea this summer, following the loan agreement for Alejandro Garnacho to join Aston Villa. He said:

“Alonso will have a good look at the squad of players who haven’t been in World Cup action, so these players have a head start to impress the new head coach. He will look at how these players can fit into his style of play and then determine who may not fit in the squad and be surplus to requirements.”

Chelsea have signed Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for a British record £117 million, while also adding Marco Palestra from Atalanta.

Chelsea and Manchester United target comments on future

Chelsea and Manchester United target Manu Kone spoke about his club future during the FIFA World Cup, saying that he was not thinking about next season. He added that no decision will be made before the end of the tournament and said:

“Honestly, right now I’m only thinking about the World Cup. It’s my first major international competition, a tournament I’ve always dreamed of playing in. I want to remain exclusively focused on this. We’ll talk about the future after the World Cup and see what happens.”

The AS Roma star has several clubs interested in signing him this summer following his impressive display at the FIFA World Cup.
