Two goals, four assists, five yellow cards, and one red. A Sofascore average rating of 7.32. More impressive still? He finished ninth across the entire French top flight for chances created, laying on 26 key actions compared to a paltry seven the year before.

Sofascore now pegs his market value around £38 million (€44 million). Quite the leap when you consider Strasbourg snagged him from Brighton in July 2025 for just £7.87 million. Mind you, given BlueCo owns both clubs, shifting players between London and Alsace was always going to happen once Chelsea got serious.

Brighton bought him from Boca Juniors two years ago, but he played just six times in the Premier League before being shipped off to Strasbourg. Chelsea are a whole different beast.

Interesting move. No two ways about it. That 7.32 average rating and 26 chances created at 22 years old aren’t figures to sniff at. He can play. But we cannot ignore how little impact he had during his first stint in England, and the World Cup fallout guarantees a target on his back every time he steps onto an away pitch. Alonso clearly sees something special in him, though. That counts for a lot, but whether the lad has the thick skin required for this step up is another matter entirely.
