This is not the first time the club has stood firm either. An Arsenal approach for Alex Scott had already been turned down. Manchester United, Tottenham and Manchester City also showed interest earlier in the window. That level of competition shows just how highly the midfielder is rated across English football.

Still, the situation is not entirely simple. Alex Scott has resisted signing fresh terms, despite an offer sitting on the table for over two months. His existing deal runs for two more seasons, though, which takes some pressure off the club. As reported by Sports Mole, Chelsea’s push for a new midfielder also follows their £50m sale of Andrey Santos to Manchester United, which freed up funds for this window.

Bournemouth Hold Firm Amid Transfer Interest

Financially, there is no rush to sell. The club banked high income last summer from the sales of Dango Outtara, Dean Huijsen, Illia Zabarnyi and Milos Kerkez. Reaching the Europa League has boosted that position further. It also marks the club’s first-ever European campaign, adding to their determination to keep the squad together this year.

That same approach applies elsewhere too. The same policy extends to forward Junior Kroupi, who has attracted attention from both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal despite Bournemouth’s reluctance to sell. Brazilian international Rayan only joined in January and has given no sign he wants to leave either.

The pair are already with the squad for new manager Marco Rose’s warm-weather training block in Austria. Rayan will join later after returning from the World Cup. It all points to the Cherries keeping their squad largely intact ahead of a demanding season.

On the international front, interest in Alex Scott keeps rising. England included him in their squad for the first time last November. Thomas Tuchel then included him in an extended training block ahead of the World Cup. A senior cap, though, is still to come for the promising midfielder.

Tottenham have been busy too, bringing in Sandro Tonali for £100m before adding Mateus Fernandes in an £85m deal. It is a sign of how costly Premier League football has become this summer.

His rise has been rapid. He moved from Guernsey FC to Bristol City in 2020 and made 91 appearances there. Bournemouth then signed him for £25m in 2023. He has made 89 appearances and scored six goals since arriving. For now, every sign points to him staying on the south coast.
