Romano Confirms Man Utd Have “Have Had Conversations” With Agents Of £51M Rated Midfielder

Manchester United have held talks with representatives of Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said that the Red Devils have a genuine interest in the France international, but the player has not given any indication that he wants to leave the Bernabeu:

“Manchester United had conversations with the agents of Camavinga to understand the situation of the player, and they did the same also with Manu Kone a few days/weeks ago.”

“So, Man United are still looking for a defensive midfielder. But as I always told you on Camavinga – the only way to get Camavinga, whether it’s Man United or any other club, is to get a green light from the player.”

“And at the moment, the message coming from Camavinga – it’s the same (as) May, June, July – is that Camavinga wants to work under Jose Mourinho and then try to stay at Real Madrid, try to revive his career at Real Madrid. Camavinga doesn’t want to leave Real Madrid. Camavinga wants to stay.”

Could Camavinga change his mind?

A lot depends on Real and what they decide to do in midfield. They have been heavily linked with a move for Manchester City’s Rodri, but President Florentino Perez has yet to rubberstamp an approach for the Spanish international.

If that does change, and the former Ballon d’Or winner joins the La Liga giants, it could accelerate Camavinga’s departure before the transfer window shuts.

How much would Man Utd need to pay for him?

It is believed that Real would want at least €60m (£51m) for Camavingawhich seems a bargain when you compare what other midfielders of a similar calibre have been going for this summer.

If the 23-year-old does become available, though, it’s unlikely that United would be his only suitor. Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City have also been mentioned as potential destinations in the Spanish press over the past few weeks.
