Alejandro Garnacho joins Aston Villa

lejandro Garnacho says he is determined to rediscover the form that established him as one of the Premier League’s brightest young attackers after completing a season-long loan move from CHELSEA to Aston Villa.

The Argentina international arrives at Villa Park looking for regular first-team football following a difficult campaign at Stamford Bridge, where opportunities became increasingly limited amid managerial changes and fierce competition for attacking places.

Villa moved swiftly to secure the attacker’s signature, viewing him as an ideal addition to strengthen their attacking options ahead of a season that includes domestic and European commitments. The agreement includes Garnacho joining on loan for the 2026/27 campaign, giving both clubs the opportunity to assess his long-term future.

Speaking after the move was confirmed, Garnacho said he relished the chance to begin a new chapter and was eager to repay the faith shown in him by Aston Villa: “I’m really happy to be here,” he said, when sitting down for his first interview with VillaTV.

“I can’t wait to start on the pitch. It’s an important club that is growing really quickly, so I can’t wait to get started. I was looking for a club to get confidence at and to try to be the player I was in my first years at Manchester United.

“I spoke with the manager and I think he will give me the confidence to be here and to help the team.”

“I saw the Europa League last season and now we’re joining the Champions League; it’s important to be a part of this. I spoke with Unai before I came here and he gave me confidence. That’s why I’m here.

“It’s important to play in European competitions. The Champions League is the best one, so we’re going to play in that this season.

“I’m really happy about that and hopefully we can do something important. It is one of my favourite stadiums in the league and now it will be my home,” Garnacho said.

“I’m really happy and I can’t wait to meet the fans.”
