Club working ‘tirelessly’ to finalise Chelsea transfer – Saturday meeting scheduled
Como are working ‘tirelessly’ to secure Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea, with a meeting planned for tomorrow to seek an agreement.
Journalist Gianluca di Marzio reports that Como and Chelsea have scheduled a meeting for tomorrow – Saturday, July 25th – to seen an arrangement regarding the English defender.
Chelsea want guaranteed €30m
According to his information, those talks will be focused primarily on add-ons to be included in the deal. Chelsea want a guaranteed €30m to let Chalobah leave this summer. Como, meanwhile, want to tie the fee to appearances.
The Italian side have been chasing a deal for the 27-year-old for weeks. That was initially delayed as he took part in the World Cup with England.
Now that the tournament is completed, talks over a deal have picked up pace. Sport Witness covered a report eight days ago that stated a €35m deal was on the verge of being done. An agreement, it seems, was in place.
A second report following that insisted the Chelsea exit was set to be finalised in the coming hours. That did not prove to be the case, though.
Saturday meeting planned
Instead, it seems a new meeting has been planned on Saturday for both sides to work out the deal and finally get it over the line. The big roadblock, at the moment, appears to be the agreement regarding appearances.
Chelsea are likely to be happy to sell as they close in on a deal for Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix. Reports in England have indicated that the Blues are close to finalising a £52m deal for the French centre-back.
That deal will free up Chalobah to depart to Como as Chelsea reshape their squad for new manager Xabi Alonso.
And with just an agreement over appearances standing in the way, there’s every chance the deal will be finalised during the meeting planned for tomorrow.
