ReadChelsea understands Chelsea are keeping tabs on Alexis Mac Allister’s situation at Liverpool.

Chelsea interest in Alexis Mac Allister remains at an early stage, with the Blues monitoring developments rather than actively negotiating a transfer.

There have been no club-to-club talks and Chelsea have not submitted an offer. However, the Argentina international is one of the midfielders under consideration as Xabi Alonso assesses further additions to his squad.

Mac Allister said in March that he was not involved in talks over a new Liverpool contract. He remains an important player at Anfield, so Chelsea would require encouragement from either Liverpool or the midfielder’s representatives before progressing their interest.

The 27-year-old joined Liverpool from Brighton in 2023 and has since become a central part of their midfield. He has also won the Premier League and Carabao Cup during his time on Merseyside, according to his official Liverpool profile.

Why Chelsea interest in Alexis Mac Allister makes sense

Mac Allister can operate as a deep midfielder or in a more advanced number-eight role. His composure under pressure, passing range and Premier League experience would suit Alonso’s possession-based approach.

Chelsea already have Moisés Caicedo, Enzo Fernández and Romeo Lavia competing in central midfield. However, Mac Allister would provide another proven option capable of controlling matches and contributing further forward.

The Blues have also explored a deal for Alex Scott. ReadChelsea reported that Bournemouth rejected an approach worth more than £60million, with the Cherries determined to retain the England international.

Mac Allister would represent a more experienced alternative, but any transfer would be difficult. Liverpool have shown no public desire to sell and would be unlikely to strengthen a direct Premier League rival without receiving a major offer.

Chelsea interest in Alexis Mac Allister is therefore best described as monitoring at this stage. The Blues are keeping informed about his situation and could act if an opportunity emerges later in the window.
