Ledley King makes bold prediction on where Tottenham will finish next season
Ledley King is very confident about Tottenham’s prospects as the club head into their first full season under Roberto De Zerbi.
Rewind three months, and there was a feeling of doom and gloom surrounding Spurs, with relegation from the Premier League looking a likely outcome.
Not only has De Zerbi managed to keep the club in the top flight, but he has also injected new enthusiasm into the supporters and the team, with a feeling of excitement at Tottenham ahead of the new season.
What has added to the feeling is the club’s decision to spend big on new players and break their self-imposed wage ceiling, with the squad looking a lot more formidable than it did last campaign.
Ledley King believes Tottenham can finish in the top four
King believes that Spurs will finish in the top six next season and admitted that he would not be surprised if his former side even got back into the top four.
He suggested that with Liverpool and Chelsea potentially in transition, the door could be open for the Lilywhites to get back into the Champions League.
King told OLGB: “I think we’d be a top six side, and it wouldn’t surprise me if we were in the top four. I think he’s (De Zerbi) been fantastic. I think he’s come in and made a huge difference… mainly it was about players playing with their heart, and I think he managed to get that out of them.”
King is not alone in backing Spurs for Champions League qualification
King is not alone in predicting a top four finish for Tottenham, with Louis Saha also suggesting that De Zerbi can take Spurs back to the Champions League.
Reports indicate that the Tottenham boss has also set his sights on a top-four finish, and the Italian has made an exciting announcement ahead of the new season.
De Zerbi has said that Spurs deserve to compete for the top of the Premier League, and added that he feels a sense of responsibility to get the club to the target.
