Chelsea give immediate response to £25 million bid for defender
Chelsea are working on a deal that would see Trevoh Chalobah leave Stamford Bridge after 20 years with the club.
In addition to multiple loan moves, the 27-year-old has been a fringe player since he was promoted to the first team in 2021 and won’t play an important role under Xabi Alonso either.
Now with three years left on his contract, the time has come for the England international to move on in search of regular football.
Como make improved Trevoh Chalobah offer
Despite Inter Milan trying to sign Chalobah, Como are the clear favourites to bring the defender to Serie A.
Having already re-signed Nico Paz from Real Madrid, Cesc Fabregas is continuing to build a team capable of becoming genuine league contenders, and Chalobah has been a key target for the Spaniard for several weeks..
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Italian side have made an improved offer worth £25 million inclusive of add-ons worth £3 million.
However, according to a more recent report from talkSPORT, the Blues have rejected the offer because they’re holding out for a package worth a total of £35 million.
The current gap in valuations will see talks between the two clubs continue.
Enzo Fernandez could also leave before window closes
Speculation around Enzo Fernandez leaving Stamford Bridge continues to plague the Blues.
It was suggested the Argentine could follow Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid before the La Liga giants publicly announced they won’t be signing him.
Although Fernandez has seen his dreams of moving to the Santiago Bernabeu dashed, he is still rumoured to want out.
The problem for the midfielder has always been how few clubs can pay the £120 million fee Chelsea are asking for. Although the Blues are open to selling him, they won’t budge on their price, and that’s not worked in the midfielder’s favour.
Aside from teams in the wealthy Saudi Pro League, there are only a handful of European clubs who could justify spending so much on one player.
Back-to-back Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain could be a destination, but their midfield is already among the very best in the world, so it’s hard to imagine Luis Enrique pushing for a £120 million player who wouldn’t necessarily start week in, week out.
Nevertheless, with the window open for another month there is still plenty of time for twists and shocks to happen.
For Fernandez, the most likely outcome is that he has stays in west London for another season before hoping a solution can be found next summer.
