Arsenal Told They Could Avoid “English Tax” By Pursuing “Frightening” Forward Who Is Available For £51M

BBC and talkSPORT pundit Troy Deeney believes Premier League clubs should be seriously considering a move for RB Leipzig’s Antonio Nusa.

Arsenal have recently lost out to Chelsea for Morgan Rogers after refusing to match their London rival’s £117m offer, and Deeney claims teams should be looking to avoid the “English tax” by pursuing the Norwegian international instead:

“I haven’t heard anyone linked with this guy: Antonio Nusa, left winger for Norway, 21 years of age for RB Leipzig. For me, he is frightening.”

“He’s 21 years of age and played 35 games last year, 5 goals, 4 assists. 36 games the year before, 5 goals and 6 assists, so he is showing you that he can do it both goals and assists at his 21 years of age…”

“With the English tax that we clearly know we have when you look at like Morgan Rogers’ price tag, Declan Rice and also Elliot Anderson, they’re all hundred million. There are so many gems out there that you can get that I think do just as good a job.”

Nusa HAS been linked with Arsenal

Reports in the Portuguese media did mention that the Gunners have considered making a move for the 21-year-old, and The Sun recently ran a report confirming the interest, while also mentioning Tottenham as rival suitors.

It is believed that Leipzig have slapped a €60m (£51m) asking price on Nusa, which would make him a much cheaper option than Rogers, or the likes of Yan Diomande and Bradley Barcola, who Mikel Arteta’s side have also considered as targets.

He doesn’t compare favourably to Rogers

Deeney does mention that Nusa has made his fair share of goal contributions in recent seasons, but his numbers fall well short of the newly-recruited Chelsea forward.

Over the last two years at Aston Villa, Rogers racked up 56 goals and assists in all competitions. Nusa’s figure in comparison was only 22.
