Chelsea looking to sign player from Real Madrid as replacement for Marc Cucurella: Reports

Premier League juggernauts Chelsea are reportedly looking to sign Alvaro Carreras from Real Madrid to replace Marc Cucurella. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Blues are interested in bringing the young Spaniard to Stamford Bridge.

Having played for Real Madrid at youth level, Carreras rejoined his boyhood team from Portuguese side Benfica last summer for a reported €50 million transfer fee. In his debut campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu, he racked up 40 appearances across all competitions.

Just days after the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicked off, Real announced the signing of Cucurella from Chelsea for a reported €60 million fee. After his heroics in Spain’s triumphant run at the tournament, he will certainly be the undisputed starter under newly-appointed Meringues boss Jose Mourinho.

One of the names that has cropped up in the Blues’ pursuit of Cucurella’s replacement is Carreras, who is supposedly considered expendable under Mourinho. Xabi Alonso, who departed Real Madrid in January and was appointed as the London side’s manager last month, is believed to be an admirer of the 23-year-old.

Mundo Deportivo (via Tribal Football) reports that The Whites are willing to do their former boss ‘a favour’ by considering a move for Carreras. They are reportedly set to demand a fee of €45 million, which would compensate for a big chunk of the fee that they paid for Cucurella – and effectively make it a swap deal.

Chelsea’s current options at left-back are youngsters Denner (18), Jorrel Hato (20), Caleb Wiley (21). A move for Carreras would add significant first-team experience and quality to the Blues’ backline.

Real Madrid reach agreement in principle for Bundesliga star who was once on trial with Chelsea – Reports

Spanish giants Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement in principle to sign young forward Yan Diomande from German side RB Leipzig.

Diomande joined Leipzig from LaLiga side Leganes for a reported €20 million fee last summer. He had an impressive debut campaign with The Red Bulls, racking up 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 games and winning the Bundesliga’s Rookie of the Season award.

His impressive performances caught the attention of several top European sides, including Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Liverpool and Arsenal. Interestingly, the Ivorian was once on trial at Chelsea’s famed Cobham academy (2023), but the Blues chose against signing him.

On Sunday (July 26), transfer expert Ben Jacobs revealed that The Whites have agreed a deal in principle with Leipzig for Diomande. Jacobs further claimed that they also have a five-year contract agreed with the exciting 19-year-old forward.

With rumours about Rodrygo’s potential departure from the Santiago Bernabeu doing the rounds, Diomande will likely partner Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr in attack.
