City are looking to add more players to their squad after the signings of Elliot Anderson and Jeremy Monga and Gusto is believed to be high on Maresca’s shortlistwith a right-back proving a priority for the Premier League runners up.

However, Chelsea have remained firm in their asking price of more than €80 million for Gusto, which has so far made formal negotiations a non-starter, and the Blues could demand a similar fee for another star in Maresca’s sightlines.

According to the Daily MailMaresca is keen to bring Pedro Neto to City, with current wingers Savinho and Omar Marmoush facing an uncertain future at the Etihad.

Chelsea have not quoted a price for Neto as of yet but they are aware of interest from City, Liverpool and sides in Saudi Arabia and the West London side believe the current market will allow them to command a significant fee for the 26-year-old.

With the likes of Bradley Barcola and Yan Diomande being valued at more than €120mChelsea believe that, although Neto would struggle to fetch such a large fee, the rising valuation of wide players this summer could net them a significant price for the Portuguese winger.

Chelsea open to taking advantage of Maresca interest in Neto

Neto is currently still on his pre-season break after his involvement at the 2026 World Cup with Portugal but it remains to be seen whether he is favoured by new manager Xabi Alonso like he was by Maresca.

The former Wolves star was a key player for Maresca during the Italian coach’s time at Chelsea and City could make a move for Neto if Savinho or Marmoush leave the club this summer.

Chelsea have already seen Geovany Quenda arrive from Sporting to provide depth on the flanks, while the signing of Morgan Rogers should sufficiently replace Alejandro Garnacho on the left side after the Argentine’s loan move to Aston Villa.

While Chelsea are not ideally looking to sell Neto, the club are aware that sales need to be made following the record signing of Rogers and they could leverage Maresca’s interest in both Neto and Gusto to command a significant fee for both players.
