Chelsea among clubs looking at signing €50m-rated Ligue 1 forward: Reports

Chelsea are among a number of teams looking to bring in Senegal international Ibrahim Mbaye this summer, as per reports. The teenage star is looking to change teams this summer after failing to earn a consistent starting berth with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

According to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Mbaye has emerged as a concrete target for many clubs, including Xabi Alonso’s side. The 18-year-old is expected to command a fee in the excess of €50 million, with PSG not prepared to listen to any offers below that.

Ibrahim Mbaye is regarded as one of the best players in his age group, having starred for PSG over the last two seasons. The Senegalese teenager earned a place in his country’s FIFA World Cup squads this year, scoring in their opening day defeat to France.

PSG have made it clear to Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayer Leverkusen that they will only listen to offers over €50 million. The youngster has played in a back-up role in each of the last two seasons, accruing 42 appearances for the club, and recording four goals and four assists, in total.

Europe’s top sides have one month to find a deal for the teenager, who has two winner’s medals from the UEFA Champions League already. PSG will not stand in the way of a move away for him, seeing as they have several top players in his position.

Chelsea make significant signing to bolster defence: Reports

Chelsea have brought in centre-back Maxence Lacroix to strengthen their backline, as per reports. The Blues have concluded a deal for the France international, beating rivals such as Liverpool and Arsenal to the capture of the 26-year-old defender.

The hierarchy at Stamford Bridge promised to make experienced additions to their squad this summer, following their disappointing 2025-26 season in which they finished tenth in the league. They have delivered on their promise with the addition of Lacroix, who is their oldest signing since 2022 at 26 years old.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the defender has undergone a medical assessment and put pen to paper on a six-year contract until 2032. Chelsea will pay £52 million in total for the Frenchman, who was at the FIFA World Cup with Les Bleus this summer.

The Blues have already brought in Marco Palestra and Morgan Rogers this summer, while the likes of Emanuel Emegha and Geovany Quenda have joined the squad. They are looking to make a significant mark in the 2026-27 season with Xabi Alonso in charge.
