Make Bruno Guimaraes offer

During the week, it emerged that Chelsea are not planning to make a move for Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes in this transfer window.

However, journalist Simon Phillips has told Chelsea supporters on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea not to rule anything out, claiming that this one “might not be over yet”.

Guimaraes is, hands down, one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. Looking for a player in that position, the Club World Cup winners would be silly not to make an offer for him.

Launch second Alex Scott bid

Chelsea have already sent a bid for Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, but it was rejected.

Seeing their £64m offer for the 22-year-old rebuffed, it is obviously going to cost huge money to sign him this summer if Bournemouth soften their not-for-sale stance.

Launching another big-money bid and signing Scott, though, will give Xabi Alonso one less thing to worry about. He would be Moises Caicedo’s midfield partner next season.

Keep hold of Enzo Fernandez

The easiest solution would be to just keep Fernandez. Chelsea are not under any real pressure to sell the Argentine either.

His contract does not expire until 2032 and no one has even made a bid for him yet.

Fernandez, Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Dario Essugo and Valentin Barco should be enough for Alonso next season, though Lavia’s and Essugo’s injury records last term were a concern.

But if Chelsea keep hold of Fernandez, they do not have to spend on an expensive midfielder if one at all. A cheap cover option would probably be sufficient.
