In a recent report, Sabah Spor claimed that Chelsea are hoping to land Fenerbahce left-back Archie Brown. It has been mentioned that the Blues would have to compete with Manchester United in the race to land the English defender this off-season.

Brown’s Impressive Form In The Turkish Super Lig

Brown enjoyed a decent run of form at the Turkish club in the previous campaign when he produced a string of impressive performances on the left side of their defence. The 24-year-old registered five goals and grabbed seven assists in 38 matches for Fernerbahce last season across multiple competitions.

The English talent is currently one of the best full-backs in the Turkish Super Lig. Hence, it is no wonder that the Blues are eager to get a deal done for him later this year.

His current contract at the Turkish club will run out in the summer of 2028. Thus, Chelsea would have to make a convincing offer they want to get him on board in this transfer window.

What Will Brown Bring To Chelsea?

Brown loves a tackle and can scan the danger well to earn the ball back for his team on the defensive end of the field. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required and is a decent crosser as well from the left flank.

The English sensation is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can contribute by scoring and creating a lot of important goals for his team. Brown mainly plays as a left-back but can also serve as a left-sided wide player or as a centre-back if told to do so. However, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if the Blues manage to snap hi up in this transfer period.

We can expect Brown to bring more quality and depth to Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso’s defence. He is capable of competing for a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge next season.

At 24, Brown will only improve with each year. Hence, he would be a good fit for the West London club’s needs in the long run. Therefore, Alonso would be wise to go all out to sign him this off-season.
