Reliable Journalist Says Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea & Spurs Have “Made Enquiries” For PSG Ace
Liverpool are among several clubs who have “made enquiries” for Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye, according to RMC Sport reporter Fabrice Hawkins.
The journalist is very reliable when it comes to transfers involving French clubs, and he says the Reds are interested in the Senegalese international.
Andoni Iraola’s side are by no means the only ones pursuing Mbaye, though, with Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund also “closely following” his situation.
The teenager is not expected to get much game time if he does remain at the Parc des Princes this summer.
Mbaye is well down the pecking order at PSG
The 18-year-old already has the likes of Desire Doue, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Bradley Barcola to contend with for starts on the flanks.
However, the Ligue One giants are also in negotiations to sign Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche and RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande.
Even if they lose out to Real Madrid for Diomande, PSG’s decision to push ahead with a move for Akliouche raises serious doubts about Mbaye’s future.
How much would Liverpool need to pay for the winger?
Hawkins reports that PSG want “more than €50m (£43m)” for Mbaye, which is substantially below what it would take to bring Barcola to Anfield.
At the moment, the Frenchman’s valuation is an eyewatering €170m (£145m), so Mbaye is on the market for £100m less.
The Reds remain keen on recruiting Barcola, having been in talks with his entourage for several months. The 23-year-old has already decided that he won’t sign a new contract, so PSG know his value will depreciate if they don’t sell him this summer.
However, unless they decide to significantly reduce their asking price, Iraola’s team may be forced into moving on to other targets, with Mbaye seemingly one of those under consideration.
