Newcastle interested in Jackson – Footie Central
Newcastle are interested in signing Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea in the summer.
The Senegalese international has been spending the season on loan in the Bundesliga, but, although he has done reasonably well there, scoring 10 goals in 29 appearances, they are not expected to trigger their option to buy him at the end of the season.
And that means he will return to Stamford Bridge, where he is likely to be surplus to requirements unless the new manager decides otherwise. Moreover, the relationship between player and club was damaged when Chelsea tried to cancel his loan at the last minute to the Bundesliga side, only to subsequently change their position.
The North-East club have failed to adequately replace Alexander Isak, with Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa both having failed to impress since moving to St. James Park.
Once of the players to have signed a long-term deal at Chelsea, he remains under contract until 2033.
