Chelsea remain determined to sign Alex Scott despite Bournemouth rejecting their opening £64million offer.

The latest Alex Scott to Chelsea update suggests the Blues are considering an improved proposal as Xabi Alonso continues to push for another midfielder.

Bournemouth have made clear that they do not want to lose the 22-year-old. However, Chelsea have not been discouraged by the initial rejection and remain among Scott’s strongest admirers.

Alex Scott to Chelsea pursuit gathers pace

Florian Plettenberg reports that Chelsea remain “very interested” in Scott and are considering returning with a new offer. Bournemouth immediately rejected the original £64million package and continue to insist the midfielder is not available. Plettenberg’s update does not suggest that a second bid has formally been submitted.

Chelsea therefore need to decide how far they are prepared to move towards Bournemouth’s demands. The Cherries qualified for Europe last season and have little financial pressure to approve another major departure.

Scott’s contract situation offers Chelsea some encouragement. The midfielder has rejected fresh terms, although Bournemouth still hold a strong negotiating position and can retain him beyond this summer.

The England midfielder would provide Alonso with another progressive number eight. Scott can receive possession under pressure, carry the ball through midfield and operate in several central roles.

Chelsea have explored multiple midfield options during the window. ReadChelsea’s transfer overview previously explained that Scott remains under consideration alongside other potential additions following Andrey Santos’ departure.

Competition for places is already strong, with Moisés Caicedo, Enzo Fernández, Romeo Lavia and Dário Essugo available. Scott’s Premier League experience and versatility could still make him an immediate option rather than a long-term development signing.

The Alex Scott to Chelsea pursuit is not yet advanced towards an agreement. Chelsea’s willingness to consider another bid nevertheless demonstrates that Alonso has not abandoned one of his leading midfield targets.
