Tottenham rank first for total miles travelled this summer as Roberto De Zerbi and his squad continue their pre‑season preparations ahead of the new campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur cannot afford a worse season than what they managed last campaign, as that would see them lose their Premier League status after having finished 17th last time around.

That is exactly what Roberto De Zerbi and his coaching staff are working so hard to avoid as he prepares his side for the upcoming season this summer.

Spurs’ pre-season preparation has already seen them play two games against MK Dons – the first of seven – which took place in London at Tottenham’s training base, Hotspur Way.

Following that encounter, Tottenham have since flown out for their pre-season tour of New Zealand and Australia, where they have faced Auckland and are set to take on Sydney before facing Chelsea.

Tottenham top Premier League chart for miles travelled in pre-season

A report from eSIMatic has now revealed that Spurs’ pre-season endeavours this summer have them top of the chart for sides to have travelled the furthest.

Tottenham’s pre‑season tour is set to cover a total of 23,281 miles – a distance that amounts to more than 92% of the way around the globe.

In second place on the chart are Chelsea, who – just like Tottenham – have made the trip to Oceania but will cover slightly less distance this summer, totalling 22,952 miles.

The two sides will eventually face each other in Tottenham’s final pre-season game in Australia on Saturday.

Spurs among top clubs for miles per game as De Zerbi manages fitness carefully

Not only are Spurs covering the most distance in pre-season of any Premier League side, but they also sit in the top two for the most ground covered per game.

Chelsea beat Tottenham in this metric, with their miles travelled per game coming in at 4,590.4, while Tottenham sit at 3,325.9, with Manchester City in third at 3,253.5.

Spurs are the side playing the second‑most friendly matches before the season kicks off, with only Nottingham Forest playing more (eight), while Tottenham, Aston Villa, Sunderland and Newcastle all play seven games.

With the distance covered and the miles per game, it is no surprise De Zerbi is taking extra care managing the fitness of his key players as Spurs aim to avoid any serious injuries ahead of the new season.
