Chelsea are pushing hard to sign Jordan Henderson and could reach an agreement with Brentford “very soon”, according to Romano.

“This (transfer) could be a ‘here-we-go’ very, very soon,” Romano said. “Chelsea (have) wanted an experienced midfielder for some time.

“Now Chelsea are progressing (with) a deal to sign Jordan Henderson on a free. The player is ready to agree on personal terms, Brentford are discussing with Jordan Henderson on the termination of his contract (with them).

“He’s going to leave on a free, this is the expectation, and then he is expected to join Chelsea, (who are) leading the race over two more Premier League clubs.”

Welbeck close to agreement

Chelsea are also closing in on an agreement to sign Danny Welbeck from Brighton, Romano confirmed.

“Chelsea are closing in on (an) agreement with the player (Welbeck), in terms of personal terms” Romano said. “From the same agency (as Welbeck) Chelsea already signed a talented boy, (Harrison) Bettoni, who joined the club a few weeks ago.

“And Chelsea are now proceeding (with) this opportunity to get Danny Welbeck. They need to negotiate and agree (a fee) with Brighton because the player is under contract and for Brighton (he) is obviously an important player.

“But the conversation is under way.”

Mudryk faces legal battle

Mykhailo Mudryk is continuing to face issues while serving his ban from football after reports that the Chelsea winger is being sued and having his assets frozen by the British high courts.

The difficulties appear to keep coming for Mudryk after a report from Italian outlet Derbyderbyderby who claim that the player is being sued by JJDS Management Limited for more than £5 million (€6m) for an alleged breach of image rights.

It is claimed that Mudryk signed a contract with the company when he joined Chelsea in January 2023 but has failed to pay the agreed portion of his advertising and commercial revenue.

The report states that the High Court in London have frozen assets worth £2.5m (€3m) from Mudryk’s bank accounts, while some sources have claimed that Mudryk’s spending has also been limited to £5,000-per-week while the investigation is ongoing.

Badiashile close to exit

Benoit Badiashile has moved a step closer to leaving Chelsea after they opened talks with Napoli over a potential deal, according to reports in Italy.

Italian reporter Luca Cerchione claims Napoli are hoping to reach an agreement to sign Badiashile on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy next summer.

The deal is rumoured to be worth a loan fee of €3m with a buy-clause and a contract of €2.5m per year for Badiashile.

Cerchione was the first to break the news that the Blues were interested in signing Marco Palestra from Atalanta in June.

More Chelsea outgoings

In other outgoing news, Filip Jorgensen has left Chelsea’s pre-season training camp ahead of completing a move to Strasbourg, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Romano claims an agreement is “almost done” between all parties, though it is unknown whether Jorgensen will leave on loan or on a permanent basis.

Nottingham Forest have also rekindled their interest in Liam Delap with the striker facing an uncertain future at Chelsea, according to The Telegraph, having tried to sign him last summer.

BBC Sport’s Nizaar Kinsella understands the Blues are looking to sell two strikers this summer, with Delap a possibility as well as newly-arrived Emmanuel Emegha.
