Chelsea player handed four-year ban by the FA
It would be safe to say that Chelsea have gotten a lot of things wrong in recent times. A lot of it has been in their control. Not changing their transfer policy despite seeing it fail to produce results or hiring inexperienced managers has to fall under that category. That being said, some of the stuff has been out of their control and a case of bad luck.
The situation of Mykhailo Mudryk has to fall under that category. He has been out of the game for a long time, and now, it looks like a decision has been reached regarding his situation.
According to talkSPORT, Mudryk has been handed a four-year ban by the FA. This comes after he had tested positive for a banned substance in 2024.
The report further states that Mudryk has since lodged an appeal over the decision. It has been referred to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Mudryk’s signing goes down as another bad Chelsea move
Obviously, nobody could have predicted how things would end up for Mudryk. That being said, even before this entire situation, the winger had struggled to deliver for Chelsea.
The Ukrainian international had arrived in a big-money move from Shakhtar Donetsk after Chelsea had managed to sign him ahead of Arsenal. He was considered the brightest talent of his generation in Ukraine and had backed that hype up with some excellent displays at the Champions League level.
Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan from there. Mudryk glittered in his debut for Chelsea against Liverpool. To this day, that might be his best performance in the Royal Blue jersey.
What does the future hold for Mudryk?
Mudryk was never able to meet expectations. There were flashes of brilliance here and there, and his rapid turn of pace was undeniable. That being said, he was never able to string together a good run of performances. And by the time Enzo Maresca became manager, he was already a backup option.
It is impossible to predict where things will go for Mudryk following this four-year ban from the FA. It is worth noting that he has always denied any wrongdoing on his part.
