Chelsea in talks to extend Trevoh Chalobah’s contract

The Blues now have a core group of players they will be keen to build their side around, with one of those looking like Trevoh Chalobah despite previous efforts to sell him for pure profit.

The centre-back has featured in 44 games in all competitions this season, and was recently described by Gary Cahill as the club’s most reliable option at the back.

It looks as if the Blues want to reward Chalobah by offering him a new deal, with journalist Nicolo Schira stating that the club have opened talks with their player.

He said: “Exclusive. – Chelsea have opened talks to try to extend Trevoh Chalobah’s contract.”

Chalobah’s current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2028, meaning there are likely financial reasons behind the two parties entering negotiations.

Chalobah is currently on a salary of £50,000-per-week (Capology), with only a few first team players coming in lower than that.

One of those is Malo Gusto, who has been reported to be on the club’s list of players to tie down for the future.

Chalobah earns half the amount of Levi Colwill, and just a quarter of the £200,000-per-week which Wesley Fofana picks up.

The revival of the England international to become one of the club’s regulars from the brink of banishment is worthy in itself of a new contract.
