Cesc Fabregas to make Chelsea wait over move

As Chelsea searches for a new head coach following the dismissal of Liam Rosenior, fresh reports suggest that former Blues midfielder Cesc Fàbregas remains a name of interest — but one the club may have to wait for.

Sources close to icfootballnews indicate that while CHELSEA admire the 38-year-old’s burgeoning managerial career at Italian side Como, the Spaniard does not feel prepared to take on one of English football’s highest-pressure jobs just yet.

Fabregas, who enjoyed a trophy-laden playing career that included over 190 appearances for Chelsea between 2014 and 2019, has been turning heads in management since taking charge at Serie A club Como. There, he has guided the side into strong midtable form and built a reputation for tactical acumen and calm leadership — achievements that have not gone unnoticed among the Stamford Bridge hierarchy.

With Rosenior sacked after a run of poor results, including five straight league defeats culminating in a 3-0 loss to Brighton, Chelsea are once again in the market for a new boss. Interim manager Calum McFarlane will lead the team until the end of the season, while the club assesses its options ahead of the summer appointment.

Fàbregas’s name has appeared in the mix alongside a host of other potential candidates — from experienced tacticians to other former players — reflecting the club’s desire for a figure capable of commanding respect and stabilising a squad that has endured significant upheaval this season.

Former club teammate Eden Hazard recently praised Fabregas’s managerial rise and suggested he could be destined for big-time coaching roles, including one at Stamford Bridge.

Yet Fabian’s blockbuster return may be a longer-term prospect rather than an immediate solution. Those close to the situation believe Fabregas may reassess his options once he has completed additional seasoning as a manager, potentially after leading Como into European competition — goals that are currently front of mind for him.
