Still, Disasi – even despite doubts over his future – remains committed to the cause.

During an interview that started in understandably downbeat fashion, Disasi’s messaging quickly changed when he was asked about the job on his hands.

It was put to the defender that he might only have three games left clad in claret and blue, given he is only on loan from Chelsea.
He was asked how much he wanted to keep the Hammers in the Premier League, to which Disasi responded: “Of course I take it very personally, because since my first day here everyone at the club – the fans, my teammates and the staff – have shown me love and respect.
“I take this mission personally, because I want to give back that love and respect that everyone has shown me since the first day at this club. Again, we have three games to go, and I will fight until the end to make sure we achieve our objective.”

The Dutchman is high on Nuno Espirito Santo’s wish list heading into the summer transfer window, although clearly everything does depend on Premier League survival.
