Joao Pedro saves Chelsea from misery with overhead kick

Chelsea are still about to suffer another bleak defeat – but at least they’ve scored a first home Premier League goal since February.

It’s full time in the Chelsea against Nottingham Forest game, and the Blues have been beaten by 3-1.

Their single goal came right at the death, and to be fair it was a beauty. Joao Pedro, one of the few Blues players who had performed today, pulled off a superb bicycle kick which thumped Marc Cucurella’s cushioned header into the back of the net.

The Brazilian is one of very few Blues to come out of this season with any credit whatsoever.

Chelsea players save themselves from some horrible records

This doesn’t change anything in terms of the result or the season as a whole, but it does at least mean the Blues stop the clock on some very unpleasant records that were mounting. They hadn’t scored a home goal since mid-February, for example.

Without this goal, it would have been six league defeats in six games without a goal for the first time in the club’s history. We could go on, but what’s the point?
