If the Hammers can do that again then it would give Nuno Espirito Santo’s side a huge boost in the battle for survival.

And it would taste even sweeter if it denied Declan Rice a first major trophy since his £105m move to Arsenal.

Now Gunners legend Thierry Henry has made an honest West Ham admission ahead of the pivotal Arsenal clash – and Jamie Carragher agrees.

Henry says his worry for Arsenal’s run-in has always been the game away at West Ham.

And Carragher agrees, saying West Ham will be the game that scares Arsenal as he backed the Hammers to get a point from the game.

“It (the game at West Ham) was always my worry,” Henry said on Monday Night Football.

Carragher says Arsenal will be ‘scared’ of West Ham clash

“I always thought that (Man) City might drop points against Everton and my worry was West Ham away.

“Especially after the (Champions League semi-final second leg) game against Atletico Madrid because you have either made the final or you don’t, either way sometimes you go a bit too high (with emotions) or too low and then go into a game against a team that’s trying to stay up.

“So that was always my worry with the final schedule, the game at West Ham…

“You’re playing for survival, it’s going to be very difficult to play against a team like West Ham. Again, what’s going to happen with Arsenal in the Champions League? Are you coming on a high and celebrating a final or missing a final? Either way that (West Ham) won’t be an easy game.”

Carragher agreed with Henry, saying Arsenal fans and players will be ‘scared’ of facing the Hammers with everything that is at stake for both sides.

The Sky Sports pundit says West Ham did not play badly against Brentford and says they must not get ‘too emotional’ about the result before they face the Gunners.

“Listen you expect Arsenal to win, but I was at this game a few years ago and I think it finished 2-2 and I remember the atmosphere there, a London derby, a lot at stake,” Carragher said.

“In some ways Arsenal might be thinking ‘I wish West Ham would have won (at Brentford)’ because there’s almost this desperation right now in that game.

“The atmosphere will be fantastic, it will be a great game to watch and I think most Arsenal fans, a bit like you Thierry, that’s the one they’re looking at that really worries and scares them.”

A West Ham win coupled with a Spurs draw or defeat against Leeds would see Nuno’s side climb back out of the relegation zone with two games to go.

If West Ham draw and Spurs lose they will go level on points with Roberto De Zerbi’s side but remain in the bottom three on goal difference.

After Arsenal, the Hammers go to Newcastle before hosting Leeds on the final day. Spurs play Chelsea away and Everton at home in their last two.
