Chelsea are not favourites to sign Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller, according to reports in the Italian media.
Tuttosport have described the German international as the “new Kroos”, comparing him to the Real Madrid legend, and they named the Blues as potential suitors.
However, the fact that the London club don’t have a manager means it is very unlikely that Stiller will end up moving to Stamford Bridge.
Another Premier League team, Manchester United, have also been linked with the 25-year-old, but it seems Juventus are now hoping to win the race for the player.
Stiller has a release clause
It is believed that the German has a buyout fee worth just €36.5m (£31.5m) in his contract, but there is a crucial caveat.
Stuttgart have the option to remove the clause for a pretty low fee (€2m), so Stiller is expected to cost a lot more during the summer transfer window. Some reports have put his asking price at around €50m (£43m).
That may scare off Juve and keep the midfielder on the market for the likes of Chelsea until they have sorted out who their next manager will be.

Chelsea are seeking a new midfielder
Heading into the summer, the recruitment team have prioritised reinforcing the middle of the park. They were planning to strengthen that position, even before there was speculation about Enzo Fernandez’s future.
The Argentinian’s agent, Javier Pastore, has apologised for the player’s comments during the last international break, where he hinted that he was keen on a move to Real Madrid. The remarks got him in hot water and led to the club banning him for two games.
However, Pastore has subsequently suggested that a transfer away from Stamford Bridge is not out of the question for Fernandez this summer.
