Cesc Fabregas open Premier League job
Former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fàbregas has reiterated his long-held ambition to manage in English football’s top flight — but has stressed he is in no hurry to make the jump from his current role in Italy.
The 39-year-old Spaniard, who enjoyed a glittering playing career with Arsenal, FC Barcelona and CHELSEAis currently head coach of Como 1907, the Serie A club he has helped transform since taking charge. Under his stewardship, Como have risen up the Italian top flight and are pushing for European qualification, drawing widespread praise for their progress and Fàbregas’ tactical imprint.
Speaking to The Telegraph, Fàbregas said that while he remains open to returning to the Premier League, timing and conditions will play a crucial role in any future move.
And Despite the links, Fàbregas stressed he would not take a job that did not align with his footballing philosophy. According to reports, he insists on significant control over footballing decisions — including transfers and tactical direction — a stance that could conflict with the current structure at Stamford Bridge under BlueCo ownership.
“The Premier League is the best league in the world,” Fabregas told the Daily Telegraph. “I’ve always been very, very clear about it. I felt it as a player, I feel it as a coach, as a fan.
“But (Jose) Mourinho told me one day when I was at Chelsea: ‘I still have 30 years to work.’ So I could be here (Como) for 10 years, and you can still go to the Premier League in 12, 15 years.
“Football is so unpredictable, it changes in one second. One day, you are the best. The day after, you are the worst. So let’s enjoy the moment. I like to enjoy the moment. It’s beautiful what we are living here. Let’s see what the future holds.”
Fàbregas’ broader managerial philosophy appears rooted in his experiences under coaches such as Arsène Wenger, Antonio Conte and Mourinho, combining tactical discipline with possession-based play. He has spoken in the past about the “little black book” of ideas he used to compile throughout his playing career — a notebook he consulted early in his coaching career before becoming more confident in his own methods.
Long-term observers see Fàbregas as part of a new generation of young managers learning their trade across Europe, with some pundits suggesting that a future Premier League post — whether with CHELSEAArsenal or another club — could be viable once he has more experience under his belt.
For now, however, Fàbregas insists his focus remains on Como’s rise, with European football on the horizon and a clear blueprint for success at the Italian club
