“You came out worst than me”

Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has shared an update on his condition and sent a message to Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White after their collision. Both players were forced off with head injuries in the second half of the 3-1 win for Forest at Stamford Bridge on Monday afternoon.

Sanchez took to Instagram to provide an update after he left the pitch with his head bandaged in the aftermath of an accidental collision with Gibbs-White. He identified that the England international had come off worse from the clash as he shared pictures of his forehead, which had been stitched.

“Seen that you came out worst than me, hope you are ok big man @morgangibbswhite”, he posted on his story.

Nottingham Forest star Gibbs-White had also posted a photo on his Instagram page of what his face looked like after he received stitches following the clash of heads. The occurrence took place in the 60th minute, just 15 minutes after the midfielder had been introduced off the bench. Both players could not continue, and were taken off immediately afterwards.

Gibbs-White had continued his fine form with an assist just seven minutes into the second half after his half-time introduction. He set up Taiwo Awoniyi to make it 3-0 to Forest at the start of the second half, sending them on their way to a vital victory in their bid to avoid relegation.

The clash between Gibbs-White and Sanchez was the second such one in the game, after 18-year-old Jesse Derry and Zach Abbott were also forced off in the first half. Chelsea had no answers to their opponents on the day and no luck on their side as they fell to a sixth successive league defeat.

Nottingham Forest claimed three vital points from their visit to London as they defeated Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge. The relegation-threatened side put six points between themselves and the drop zone with three games left to play.

Fans had barely settled into their seats when Taiwo Awoniyi headed Forest in front in the second minute, and the Nigerian won the penalty from which Igor Jesus doubled their lead in the 15th minute. Chelsea missed a chance to halve the deficit in first half stoppage time when Cole Palmer saw his penalty saved by Matz Sels in the Forest goal.

Nottingham Forest added a third goal at the start of the second half through the impressive Awoniyi, effectively ending the game as a contest. Chelsea struck in stoppage time through leading scorer Joao Pedro, with the Brazilian’s stunning acrobatic effort offering scant consolation. The Blues have now lost six successive league games for the first time since November 1993.
