Luis Enrique is among the names linked with the Chelsea job and it could align with his dream to work in the Premier League. The Blues are set to appoint a new head coach in the summer following Liam Rosenior’s sacking last month.
As Calum McFarlane is temporarily in charge, a search for a new manager is the priority at Stamford Bridge with Enrique potentially being the choice. The 55-year-old, who is currently in charge of Paris Saint-Germain, once revealed his desire to work in England.
Speaking in 2023, he told Cadena SER: “I have a special attraction – I would like to go to England to work. I follow English football a lot, more than Spanish football. In the Spanish league, I do follow the biggest teams and little else.”
Enrique had just left his post as the Spanish national team boss and shut down rumours of moving to the English top-flight at the time. However, he did confirm he’d only consider a select number of teams, citing a need to join a club that wants to win.
He added: “If I see myself working in the Premier (League) in June? No, the truth is that I don’t – do you know why? Because it is very difficult for it to happen. I’m not going to deceive you – I’m not going to go to any team in the Premier (League).

“I would like to go to one that has clear options to do important things.” The Blues may not fit Enrique’s criteria as they currently sit ninth in the table and are on a six-match losing streak.
Their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League have taken a deep hit in recent weeks and they could miss out on European football altogether. With just one year left on his deal in Paris, Enrique has also been linked with a move to Manchester United.
However, Enrique confirmed his future, at least for now, remains at the Parc des Princes when recently discussing the club’s summer plans alongside PSG sporting director Luis Campos. When asked about the upcoming transfer window, the former Barcelona boss said: “There will be small adjustments, just like last year.
“We won’t sign a lot of players.” In addition, Enrique is reportedly in negotiations to sign a new contract that would keep him in the French capital until 2030 – which would spell seven years as PSG boss.
Having led the Ligue 1 champions to their first Champions League title last year, they’re one game away from reaching back-to-back finals after beating Bayern Munich 5-4 in the first leg of their semi-final clash.
Other names linked to the Chelsea job include Andoni Iraola, who is set to leave Bournemouth at the end of the season, and Liverpool legend Xabi Alonso who departed Real Madrid earlier this year.
