Having been quiet in January, the Blues are once again expected to be busy this summer with reinforcements required in a number of areas of the squad.

Chelsea are said to still be in the market for a centre back, whilst it’s believed they want to add another midfielder and attacker.

Chelsea step up interest in Joel Ordonez

The Blues have struggled defensively this season, and haven’t kept a clean sheet in the Premier League since January.

Chelsea were boosted by the return of Levi Colwill in Monday’s defeat to Nottingham Forest, as he made his first appearance since suffering an ACL injury.

The Blues desperately need to add at least one starting level quality centre back, and have been linked with both Murillo and Jan Paul van Hecke.

However, it appears there’s another name on their radar in Ordonez, and TEAMtalk have reported Chelsea have stepped up their interest in the Ecuadorian.

The report adds Chelsea sent scouts to watch the 22-year-old in action over the weekend, and have been impressed with his development.

TEAMtalk add Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham and Aston Villa have also shown interest, whilst the Ecuador international will cost around €40m.

Ordonez is under contract until 2029, and has made 42 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring four goals.
