The dreadful news about Estevao’s hamstring injury has been slightly lost in the chaos at Chelsea right now, but it promises to be one of the stories of the summer.
The winger has seen his World Cup dream all but evaporate, and now the debate is about treatment on the issue. SportWitness have a major update from Brazil today.
Estevao now back in Brazil for treatment
According to their translated report from Globo Esporte, Estevao is back in Brazil using the treatment facilities at Palmeiras, the club from which Chelsea signed him a year ago.
There are Chelsea medical staff there keeping him on track, and the biggest decision of all has been made – the teenager will not have surgery to repair the problem. That gives him a remote chance of being back in time to play at the World Cup, although if the tear is half as bad as some have said, even that sounds impossible.
We really hope risks aren’t being taken on his long term recovery just to rush him to a World Cup he shouldn’t even by trying to play in.
In other news…
Joel Ordonez has impressed Chelsea scouts over a number of years, and there’s a push to get him signed in the summer.
Chelsea’s sporting directors are not popular with fans right now, and on Monday they made another silly mistake.
