Chelsea’s targets for the summer are starting to come into focus, and according to a report in TeamTalk today, one of them is Joel Ordonez of Club Brugge.
The 22 year old has had another great season in Belgium, and one by one Premier League teams are lining up to try and sign him. A reported €40m asking price makes him very tempting, with Liverpool, Man U, Tottenham and Aston Villa also mentioned in this piece.
Chelsea are “impressed” by the Ecuador star’s development, and have been watching him domestically and in the Champions League this season.
Ordonez a great talent – but lacks one quality Chelsea are looking for
Ordonez looks like a really top prospect, there’s no doubting that. He’s physically superb and is developing the technical and mental side of his game rapidly.
But he is not the Premier League experienced defender that we’ve heard that Chelsea are going to push for. We’ve signed plenty of talented youngsters from Europe in that position and they’ve not worked out. Is Ordonez the exception, or another one for the discard pile?
In other news…
Chelsea’s sporting directors are not popular with fans right now, and on Monday they made another silly mistake.
Wesley Fofana is not very popular at Chelsea right now, and his representatives have been offering him to big clubs around Europe.
