Agent offers Chelsea player in very ambitious attempt – Blues want €30m
Barcelona have an opportunity to sign Chelsea‘s Wesley Fofana in the summer.
The La Liga side are looking to sign a new centre-back and the Chelsea man can be an option.
Over the past few weeks, the Spanish media have talked about Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni as Barcelona’s main target.
Today’s Mundo Deportivo report the Catalan club cools down this option, leaving Bastoni frustrated. The newspaper also stated other centre-backs are also on their list.
Earlier this month, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that Tottenham Hotspur’s Cristian Romero is an alternative to Bastoni.
Chelsea player on Barcelona’s list
Hansi Flick’s side could also consider signing Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana. That’s what journalist Sacha Tavolieri is reporting in his column for Sky Sport CH.
He reports the 25-year-old’s agent has offered him to Barcelona, who are studying the possibility of signing him.
Barca are looking for a left footed centre-back while are also exploring options for a right footed defender, and the France international fits into the latter category. His representatives have already held talks with the Blaugrana.
The Camp Nou side prefer to sign the former Leicester City man on loan with an option to buy, to reduce the immediate financial burden.
The Premier League side are ‘not opposed’ to the idea of parting ways with him. However, the Blues are looking at a permanent transfer and want at least €30m.
Despite Fofana’s agent offering him to Barcelona, the difference in what the two clubs are seeking could jeopardise the deal.
Contract, value and agent info
Transfermarkt value Wesley Fofana, who has a contract until 2029, at €28m. His highest value was €58m in 2022, a month after his move to Stamford Bridge.
Agency Deal With My Agent (DWMA) represent the Frenchman and also represent Belgian players like Benfica’s Dodi Lukébakio and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Arthur Theate.
Fofana has been out of action for 696 days due to injuries since joining the Club World Cup in August 2022. That could be one of the reasons why Chelsea are looking to offload him.
