Barcelona learn transfer fee required to sign Wesley Fofana from Chelsea as player gets offered to Catalan club: Reports

Barcelona have reportedly been quoted a fee of at least €30m (£25.8m) for the services of Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana. As per Tribal Football, The French defender has reportedly emerged as an option for the Blaugrana as they look to bolster their defensive options.

Fofana is reportedly among the players Chelsea are looking to part ways with as part of a clearout. They have endured a forgettable season this time out with three separate managers having managed them across the campaign.

Expectations were big from Fofana when the Blues splashed £75 million for his services from Leicester City in the summer of 2022. However, the defender has made only 88 appearances for the west London giants so far and has missed 126 games with injury problems.

Fofana has featured 34 times across competitions this season, but it has been claimed that they are looking to cut their losses on the 25-year-old. They are reportedly willing to sell him for just €30m (£25.8m).

Barcelona are believed to be looking to secure the Frenchman’s services initially on loan with an option to buy. But, Chelsea are understood to be looking for a permanent sale rather than a loan deal.

Barcelona have also been linked with other options like Marcos Senesi and Alessandro Bastoni. The former is set to be available on a free transfer while the latter could cost them a fortune.

Chelsea are reportedly considering former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez as a candidate to replace Liam Rosenior this summer. The Blues have sacked two managers this season in the form of Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior.

Callum McFarlane is currently at the helm as interim manager until the end of the season. The Blues, however, have already started their job to find their next permanent manager and Xavi Hernandez has attracted their attention.

The former Blaugrana manager is without a job since his sacking at Camp Nou in 2024 and is reportedly open to managing in the Premier League. He did a commendable job during his three-year stint at Barcelona when the club were struggling financially.

He paved the way for youngsters like Pedri, Gavi, Pau Cubarsi, Fermin Lopez and even Lamine Yamal into the first team. Given Chelsea’s young squad, he could be a strong candidate for the managerial position at Stamford Bridge.
