Glen Johnson thinks Chelsea players will respect Cesc Fabregas

Reports suggest Alonso is more likely to take the Chelsea job than Fabregas, with the Como manager loving life where he currently is.

However, if Fabregas does return to his former club this summer, Johnson thinks he is someone who will command respect in the dressing room.

Speaking about Fabregas and another managerial candidate, Iraola, Johnson told the Metro: “Both Iraola and Fabregas have credentials, having Premier League experience as a manager is huge whereas Cesc knows the club a lot better and as a former player, would definitely get the players’ respect.”

The former Chelsea midfielder is doing an excellent job at Como. They currently sit sixth in the Serie A table, meaning that they are set to qualify for European football.

Fabregas does not want to play long-ball football, so his style of play is one thing that will likely appeal to the Chelsea board.

Cesc Fabregas perfect for Chelsea dressing room but not owners

Fabregas is one of the best midfielders the Premier League has ever seen. He won the title twice as a player at Chelsea and is a World Cup winner.

There is no doubt that the Chelsea dressing room would respect him, making the retired Spain international a good match. His lack of experience will be a bit of a concern, but Fabregas does look like a very capable coach after what he has accomplished with Como.

On the other hand, he may not be a good fit for BlueCo. Fabregas is currently enjoying having total control at Como, something that Chelsea and their five sporting directors will not be willing to hand the ex-Arsenal captain.

The club will have to tear up their sporting structure if this is going to work.
