Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho’s £40 million move from Manchester United last summer has fallen flat. A single Premier League goal across his debut season is a poor return that echoes his final, difficult months at Old Trafford.
Chelsea are already looking for a buyer, though finding one is proving difficult given his reputation off the pitch. While River Plate have reportedly inquired about a loan, a permanent move away seems the most likely end to his short stay in London.

The goalkeepers, the loanees, and the forgotten men
Robert Sanchez faced heavy fire this season after committing more errors leading to goals than any other keeper in the league. This prompted the club to pivot to Filip Jorgensen as their new number one, but even that hasn’t been smooth. Jorgensen grew frustrated with his own lack of minutes and weighed up a January exit to protect his 2026 World Cup ambitions. Currently, neither man looks like a long-term solution.
Further up the pitch, Nicolas Jackson has effectively ended his time in West London by joining Bayern Munich on loan, a deal that includes an obligation to buy for roughly €65 million if specific conditions are met.
Elsewhere, 19-year-old academy product Tyrique George has already moved to Fulham in a £22 million permanent deal, though Chelsea did keep a sell-on clause. Axel Disasi and David Datro Fofana, both currently out on loan, also seem to have reached the end of the road, with the club ready to sell if the right offer arrives.
