Chelsea Stance Revealed As Arsenal Contemplate Another Transfer Raid On London Rival
Arsenal are among the clubs interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, according to reports.
The Argentinian international has been linked with a summer exit from Stamford Bridge and TEAMtalk claim that the Gunners are “monitoring” his situation, along with Manchester City and Barcelona.
However, it is believed that Chelsea have no intention of selling Fernandez at the end of the season, although they will have to persuade him to stay.
The 25-year-old is said to be unsettled about the constant upheaval behind the scenes at the club, and negotiations over a new contract have not progressed.
Fernandez’s agent has spoken about the player’s future
Speaking at the end of last month, Fernandez’s representative, Javier Pastore, attempted to clarify comments that were made by the midfielder.
During the last international break, Fernandez hinted that he would like a move to Real Madrid, which prompted Chelsea to ban him for two games due to his remarks. Asked about the incident, Pastore said:
“A lot is being said, but the truth is that nothing is really happening. He’s focused on finishing the season strongly at Chelsea FC. It’s true he made some comments that perhaps weren’t ideal at the time, but he didn’t say anything unusual. He simply spoke about Madrid, which he really likes…”
“Whenever he has a day off, he comes to Madrid because I’m there and because he has friends in the city. That’s all it is, nothing more. The aim is to finish the season well at Chelsea, have a strong World Cup, and then we’ll see what happens.”
Arsenal have signed several Chelsea players
The Gunners raided their London rivals for Kai Havertz in 2023. They paid £65m for the German international. A year later, Raheem Sterling arrived on loan from the Blues.
Last summer, Mikel Arteta‘s side spent £52m to recruit Noni Madueke, so will it be the fourth year in a row where a player arrives from Stamford Bridge? We shall have to wait and see.
