Shaun Wright-Phillips Backs 29 G/A Chelsea Forward To LEAVE Stamford Bridge This Summer

Former Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips thinks Joao Pedro should jump at the opportunity to leave the Blues and sign for Barcelona this summer.

Reports in the Brazilian press claim that the 24-year-old has been identified as a transfer target for the La Liga giants, and Wright-Phillips says he “would do everything” to get out of Stamford Bridge, considering the state the club is currently in:

“I believe it would be fantastic for Joao if he were to go. Personally, given the way Chelsea has been run, if I were him, I would do everything to complete this transfer.”

“Playing at Camp Nou, alongside Raphinha and Lamal, would be great for him. He would score many goals, since we have already seen what he did in a team that wasn’t as good as this Chelsea team.”

“If I were Joao Pedro, I would want to play in the Champions League, and I can’t see Chelsea qualifying for any European competition. João has the level and deserves to be playing in the Champions League.”

Those are harsh words from Wright-Phillips

Such comments from an ex-player won’t go down particularly well with supporters, but the fact is that many of the club’s top players have become unsettled following events in recent months.

The lack of stability will leave many wondering whether they should go. Hiring a new manager as soon as possible would go some way to steadying the ship.

Pedro is one of the last players Chelsea should sell

The majority of the squad have massively underperformed over the course of the 2025/26 season, but that is not an accusation you can level at the Brazilian international.

Pedro has scored 20 goals and contributed 9 assists in all competitions, which is an outstanding return. He is one of the few in the first-team squad who should be unsellable.
