Mikey Moore experiences a week of highs and lows ahead of Tottenham return
Mikey Moore’s impressive loan spell at Rangers has continued to earn recognition, although the Tottenham youngster also experienced disappointment during a difficult week in Scotland.
The 18-year-old has long been viewed as one of the brightest talents to emerge from Tottenham’s academy in recent years, impressing consistently at youth level while also becoming a regular for England’s Under-19 side.
Under Ange Postecoglou last season, Moore began integrating with the first team and looked comfortable whenever called upon, especially in the Europa League.
His move to Rangers on loan this season did not begin smoothly, with the winger failing to register a goal in his opening 10 appearances for the Scottish side.
However, things changed following the arrival of Danny Rohl after Russell Martin’s departure. Under the new manager, Moore found his rhythm and has since produced 8 goal contributions in 22 Premiership starts.

Mikey Moore enjoyed a major personal achievement this week after being named the PFA Scotland Premiership Young Player of the Year.
The award came shortly after the Tottenham youngster had already collected Rangers’ own Young Player of the Year prize, underlining the impact he has made since turning his season around in Scotland.
Unfortunately, the week ended in disappointment for Moore and Rangers. Despite taking the lead in a crucial title clash against Hearts, Rangers eventually fell to a 2-1 defeat at Tynecastle, dealing a major blow to their title hopes.
Moore started the match but was criticised at times for overplaying in certain situations instead of opting for the simpler pass, with signs beginning to show of fatigue after a demanding campaign.
Rangers now sit seven points behind league leaders Hearts with just three matches remaining.
Can Mikey Moore still play for Tottenham this season?
With Rangers’ season ending on 16 May, some Tottenham supporters have wondered whether players returning from loan could still feature for Spurs in the final weeks of the campaign to help an injury-struck squad in their fight against relegation.
Tottenham still have matches against Chelsea and Everton remaining after that date, and with Roberto De Zerbi short of attacking options, the idea of bringing Moore back has naturally gained attention.
Mathys Tel is currently the only fully fit natural winger available, which would seemingly make Moore a useful option.
However, football.london journalist Alasdair Gold has explained that Tottenham cannot recall and use players currently out on loan before the summer.
Premier League rules state that loan players are deregistered from their parent club and registered with another side for the season, meaning that status cannot be reversed until the transfer window reopens.
Even so, Tottenham supporters will still be excited by the prospect of seeing Moore involved next season, especially after the ambitions he recently revealed regarding his future in North London.
