Tottenham still want to bring Harry Kane home: Chelsea and Man United lurk to spoil the reunion

Prolonged unavailability of their star attacking players like Mohammed Kudus, James Maddison, or Dejan Kulusevski is without doubt one amongst the many reasons for their atrocious form this season.

With Xavi Simons not expected back from his ACL tear until early 2027, and the long-term fitness of Dejan Kulusevski and Mohammed Kudus still in doubt, the Tottenham hierarchy will likely see Spurs’ attacking third as most in need of reinforcements.

Tottenham are still keeping tabs on Harry Kane

According to TeamTALK, Spurs are amongst the clubs tracking Harry Kane’s contract situation at Bayern Munich.

Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time leading goalscorer is entering the last year of his contract, which lasts until 2027.

Spurs would be interested in re-signing their former player, but would be competing with Chelsea and Manchester United, who are also keeping close tabs on the striker.

The reports coming out of the Alianz Arena, however, seem to indicate that Kane is unlikely to return to England and is ready to commit his future to the German club for at least another season.

Spurs may still get their homecoming one day

The striker’s ambitions for trophies and top European honours are currently aligning with the vision at Bayern Munich, and a change in clubs is probably currently off the cards.

Spurs will probably need to turn to other, more immediate transfer targets, given Harry Kane’s unavailability, and hope that the future might hold a romantic return home for their academy graduate.

There is some hope, however, that a future return for Kane might still be on the table. Some sources seem to indicate that the striker would still like to break Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goalscoring record before he retires.

When Kane left Tottenham at the beginning of the 2023/24 season, his goal record was sitting at 213, meaning that the striker would need to add 48 goals to better Shearer.
