Calum McFarlane gives his honest verdict on Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen
Filip Jorgensen let himself down once again with a poor attempt for Ryan Gravenberch’s goal at Anfield, as Chelsea’s goalkeeping woes continue.
Robert Sanchez was ruled out of Chelsea’s clash with Liverpool due to the collision with Morgan Gibbs-White in the defeat to Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge.
Leaving Calum McFarlane with an easy decision to make by giving Filip Jorgensen a chance to redeem himself after a string of mistakes earlier on this season.
Jorgensen put in arguably the worst performances of his career during Chelsea‘s defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, which led to him being dropped and then suffering an injury.
But it doesn’t look as if the Danish goalkeeper has improved much, as he failed to stop a rather central shot from Ryan Gravenberch to give Liverpool the lead.
Are you selling or keeping Filip Jorgensen this summer?🤔
Speaking before kick-off between Liverpool and Chelsea, Calum McFarlane shared where he stands on the goalkeeper after all the criticism.
“I’ve got massive faith in him.
“Everyone talks about the mistake in the PSG game, but he was amazing in the game before that against Villa, which we won 4-1. He has a lot of talent and we have a lot of trust in him.”
Of course, he’s not going to exactly out his goalkeeper ahead of a performance, but Chelsea cannot afford to have goalkeepers constantly make mistakes. They have to be ruthless.
