Chelsea are reportedly preparing a €100 million bid for Real Madrid superstar Federico Valverde as they look to take advantage of his situation at the Bernabeu.

The Uruguay international was involved in a training ground fight with team-mate Aurelien Tchouameni last week and both players were fined €500,000 as a result of the incident, while Valverde was even sent to hospital due to the injury he sustained.

He subsequently missed Los Blancos’ 2-0 defeat to Barcelona in El Clasico on Sunday – a result that handed Hansi Flick’s side the Spanish top flight title – and his future at the club has been called into question.

In fact, Spanish outlet Transfers speculatively claim that Chelsea are preparing a €100m offer as they look to sign Valverde this summer.

Despite this, Fabrizio Romano reports that Valverde has no intention of leaving Real Madrid this summer and a transfer is therefore unlikely to be agreed. However, if Chelsea are able to finalise a blockbuster deal for the Uruguay star, data analytics experts SciSports believe he would be an excellent signing.

Analysis: Federico Valverde to Chelsea?

According to SciSports’ algorithmValverde would instantly become the best player at Chelsea if he joins the club this summer. His potential SciSkill rating is lower than the likes of Jamie Gittens, Moises Caicedo and Malo Gusto, but he would bring immediate quality to a Blues squad sorely lacking in this department.

At 27 years old and with 400 senior games under his belt, Valverde would provide Chelsea with some much-needed top level experience. He has worn the Real Madrid captain’s armband for the vast majority of this season and with 15 trophies to his name, including two Champions Leagues, he is exactly what Chelsea need.

Valverde would also bring immense versatility with him. Chelsea have repeatedly suffered with injury problems over the past few years and his ability to cover multiple positions would be extremely useful.

The Uruguayan can play as a right-back, a central midfielder and a right winger to almost an equal level, and he would undoubtedly elevate the quality of Chelsea’s options across a number of positions as a result.

His leadership would be vitally important and a €100m bid would actually be somewhat of a bargain considering his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at a whopping €110.8m.
