They need to beat Newcastle on Sunday and hope that Spurs do not win at Chelsea on Tuesday night.

Hammers News asked its readers and subscribers across their Facebook and TalkingPoints platform how they were feeling about the Premier League’s relegation battle after Spurs dropped points.

The responses were broadly positive, with the obvious caveat that West Ham are still two points behind Spurs with two games to play applied.

“I think if we beat Newcastle we stay up, I see Spurs losing to Chelsea & Everton,” added one supporter.

All eyes on how West Ham react to Spurs draw

It will be fascinating to see how Nuno reacts to the Spurs draw. Sunday’s opponents Newcastle have been turgid to watch for a while now, and the excellent home form upon which Eddie Howe built his success on Tyneside has deserted him this season.

Still, West Ham’s last few away performances have not been good enough. They should have beaten Crystal Palace last month and what happened against Brentford cannot be repeated.

Clearly, West Ham are still up against it, but the door is slightly ajar for them now. They have to do their bit away from home, which hasn’t been done enough this season.
