Nemanja Vidic says Didier Drogba was harder to play against than Thierry Henry

Drogba contributed to 10 goals in 21 games against Manchester United, and was involved in a number of heated battles with Nemanja Vidic at the back.

The Serbian was speaking to Betano_BG, ranking how difficult attackers were to face out of 10.

He gave Drogba a nine, stating: “He’s obviously a great goalscorer, physically strong, intelligent. I’ve had some difficult battles against him, fantastic player.”

Vidic would only rate Henry an eight out of 10, although admitted he only faced him in the latter stages of his career at the top level of European football.

Iconic gruesome clash between Drogba and Vidic

In 2008, when both Chelsea and Manchester United were fighting for the title, Drogba and Vidic were involved in a gruesome clash that forced the defender off the pitch.

The Ivorian’s knee crashed into Vidic’s face, forcing one of the toughest centre-backs in Premier League history off on a stretcher.

The Blues would go on to win that game thanks to a brace from Michael Ballack, putting them level on points with Sir Alex Ferguson’s side with just two games left of the season.

Avram Grant’s side wouldn’t be able to convert that victory into a league title, dropping points on the final day of the season to Bolton Wanderers.
