Elliot Anderson: Man United ready to strike for Nottingham Forest star – Man United News And Transfer News
73
Manchester United are ready to ramp up their pursuit of Elliot Anderson as a fierce battle for the Nottingham Forest talisman threatens to erupt this summer, according to the latest report.
Red Pill or Blue Pill?
United have identified Anderson as their leading target to replace Casemiro, with the Brazilian set to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season once his contract expires. The 23-year-old England international has emerged as one of the best midfielders in all of Europe, ranking highly across both in-possession and out-of-possession metrics.
There is a well-roundedness to his game which few, if any, other targets on United’s wish list – including Sandro Tonali (Newcastle United), Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace) and Carlos Baleba (Brighton & Hove Albion) – can match.
Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel has described the Whitley Bay native as an “elite” midfielder who is “one of the best” in the Premier League.
Nottingham Forest, keenly aware of the prodigious talent in their ranks, are set to demand a British transfer record for the midfielder. Sources indicate a bid as high as £125 million may be required to prise him from the City Ground.
A host of elite clubs have expressed interest, including Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich, but it is the two Manchester rivals who are leading the charge. Manchester City were understood to be the frontrunners, with Anderson thought to be lured in by the prospect of working under Pep Guardiola.
But in a sharp twist, a bombshell update emerged today that United had pulled ahead in the race, with the midfielder said to now be leaning towards Old Trafford over the Etihad.
United ready to strike
GIVEMESPORT reveals the Red Devils are “ready to make their move and approach Nottingham Forest over a move to sign Elliot Anderson this summer”.
The outlet’s senior correspondent, Ben Jacobs, claims he is the “top priority” for INEOS, with the club set to “move quite quickly” to fix the stalling engine room.
“So Manchester United are going to move quite quickly on at least two midfielders because Manuel Ugarte could be sold, Casemiro is leaving, and the top priority still remains Elliot Anderson,” Jacobs reports.
“Manchester United will start now to find out the price, because the thing that’s moved with Elliot Anderson is the ability to go to Nottingham Forest, which wasn’t the case when they were still in Europe or before they had secured their Premier League safety.
“So although Elliot Anderson is not agitating or desperate to have a new club before the World Cup, now is the right time to go to Nottingham Forest…Manchester City are pushing and confident of agreeing terms with the player, but Manchester United have now got Champions League football and are prepared to throw a fair amount of money towards their midfield revamp.”
The transfer expert concludes by stating he expects “club to club talks” with the Tricky Trees to now begin for both halves of the Manchester divide.
Final Thoughts
If Anderson was to arrive in M16 this summer, it would be a blockbuster signing that would send shockwaves across both Manchester and the rest of England. He is a unique talent with every intangible quality the club are looking for; a rare player capable of taking the reins from Casemiro.
United must communicate their willingness to pay top dollar to Forest in talks this month before their noisy neighbours get the chance to strike first. Anderson will be worth every single penny – and then some.
