Team news is always the most interesting part of any press conference – especially when a guarded character like Calum McFarlane is involved.

The Chelsea interim boss had plenty of it to deliver with an FA Cup final on the horizon.

Colwill ready for Man City test – but there is a small risk

“Same sort of story (as Reece James),” McFarlane confirmed when asked if Levi Colwill had come through his first 90 minutes back in action unscathed.

“He has a really good rehab. He’d played a few games before. He played for us against Forest. I think his first game back was he played for the 21s two or three times. So, again, a really good training week for Levi. He was exceptional against Liverpool. So, again, we’re really hopeful.”

There’s no doubt that playing back to back 90 minutes isn’t recommended for a player coming off a long term injury. However, when the second game is an FA Cup final, those in charge are probably happy to bend the rules.

In other news…

Reece James is another key Chelsea player who made his return from injury in the Liverpool game – there’s positive news on him from McFarlane too.

Enzo Fernandez will be a key player in the game, and we’ve already figured out the best way he can hurt Man City.
